Join Hands Day
A community project that brings youth and adults to volunteer together. Join Hands Day is sponsored by America's Fraternal Benefit Societies. NWIOIC contributes by bringing together families and community members to clean the highways and
roadsides in the Onigum area near Walker, Minnesota. We begin at 10 o'clock in the morning, youth and adult in partnership, walking and driving through the neighborhoods, and going to elders' homes to help with their yard work.
Two hundred volunteers succeed with the Onigum beautification then come together for a meal in the afternoon. The meal is generously sponsored by Thrivent Lutheran and the supplies are provided by NWIOIC. NWIOIC recognizes the local
community members who cook and serve the meal. In 2006, NWIOIC was recognized as one of ten National Excellence Award Winners by America's Fraternal Benefit Societies.
